Paint Protection Film

What does "hidden edges" actually mean?

The film is wrapped around the panel edge instead of being cut short of it, so there is no visible boundary line where the film stops. It takes longer, needs panels or trim removed, and it is the difference between a car that looks protected and a car that looks untouched.

Can you do matte PPF?

Yes. Matte film shows every handling mark and cannot be polished afterwards, which is why most installers avoid it. We install it as a matter of course, including matte touch-ups on cars already wrapped.

Is your PPF TPU?

Yes — the film series we use are thermoplastic polyurethane, self-healing under heat. Ask us at the bay and we will show you the box the roll came out of.

Ceramic & glass coating

Coating or PPF — which do I need?

Coating is a chemical layer that keeps the paint easy to clean and resistant to chemical etching. PPF is a physical film that absorbs stone chips. They solve different problems and are often specified together: film on the impact zones, coating over everything.

Does coating stop stone chips?

No. Any shop that says otherwise is selling you something. Coating is a few microns thick; a stone chip needs film measured in mils.

Paint correction & mirror finish

Why must correction happen before coating?

A coating locks in whatever is under it. Sealing swirls and etching under a five-year coating means five years of looking at them. Decontamination and correction come first, always.

What is a mirror-effect finish?

Multi-stage machine polishing taken past "defect-free" to the point where reflections hold a sharp edge. It is slow, paint-thickness-limited work and it is the craft we are known for.

Colour wrap & vinyl

Will a wrap damage my paint?

Correctly installed on factory paint in sound condition, no — it protects it. Wraps come off cleanly with heat. Resprayed or flaking paint is the risk, and we inspect for it before quoting.

Detailing, grooming & wheels

Do you coat wheels and tyres?

Yes — rims, tyres, glass and interior surfaces all take their own coating. Coated rims release brake dust with a rinse instead of an acid cleaner.

Aftercare & washing

When can I wash the car after PPF?

Leave it alone for the first seven days while the adhesive fully wets out, and avoid pressure washing the edges for the first thirty. Small water pockets under fresh film are normal and clear on their own.

What destroys a coating fastest?

Automatic brush washes, acid wheel cleaner on hot rims, bird droppings left to bake, and petrol-station sponges. Two buckets and a pH-neutral shampoo will outlast any spray-on top-up.

Warranty & claims

What warranty do I get?

Two things are covered. Every film series and coating tier carries the manufacturer's term, shown against it on our warranty page, and our installation is covered on top of that. Bring any claim to us first, whichever it turns out to be — we deal with the manufacturer for you.

What ends the warranty?

Automatic car washes of any kind, pressure washing close to a film edge, polish or wax applied by anyone other than us, and accident or impact damage. It ends on the affected panel, not the whole car. The full list is on the warranty page.

How do I make a claim?

Message or call the studio line with photographs of what you are seeing and your registration number. We respond within three working days, normally the same day, and assessment is free whether or not the claim succeeds.

Booking, turnaround, pickup & cost

What should I send when I enquire?

Car model, colour, current condition, and what you want done. That is enough to price it from our published rate card; a specialist confirms after seeing the car.

Do you collect and return the car?

For show cars and limited-series production vehicles, yes — within a 5 km radius of the studio, by carrier towing truck. It is not a general service: every other car comes to us on its own wheels. If you think yours qualifies, ask and we will tell you before you book.
